Every once in a while, paths cross and the stars align. CRT CLSSX is the birth of an extraordinary relationship between producer Jamie Rodigan and singer-songwriter Aaron Horn who will be releasing their debut single, Habits on the 9th September via Oatmilk Industries. Born to the legendary David Rodigan and Trevor Horn, Aaron and Jamie have both enjoyed commercial and critical success individually. Career highlights already include hitting the number 1 spot in the UK Singles Chart selling over a million records with previous project Sam and the Womp as well as supporting the likes of MIA, touring with Mark Ronson, Disclosure, supporting Elton John, Beardyman, Mr Vegas, Julian Marley, Super Cat and Baby Cham amongst others.
Son of Grammy Award-winning producer, Trevor Horn, known as “The Man Who Invented the Eighties” who also received the British Academy’s Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, Aaron grew up around the Sarm Studios in Notting Hill, well known for recording the likes of Bob Marley, Brian Eno, Depeche Mode amongst others. Drawing influence from Jungle, Dancehall, Carnival, UKG and UK Bass he cites Bob Marley, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack and the Mad Professor amongst his inspirations and has already produced and worked with the likes of Seal, Kenzie May, Matt Cardle, Karen Harding, Brookes Brothers, Sam Sure x Troi Boy and Arches.
Son of famous radio presenter David Rodigan, well known for his involvement in the dubstep scene collaborating with the likes of CASPA, Breakage and Sukh Knight, Jamie has already played at Reggae Geel Festival, Reggae Sunsplash and Notting Hill Carnival and quotes Sly & Robbie, Vybz Kartel, Dave Kelly, LTJ Bukem as Goldie as some of his musical influences.
“Habits came about through a shared love for Dancehall and Bass. We took some of those key elements and built a vibe in the studio over the course of a few months. It’s pop and dancehall merging into blissful island rhythms” explain the duo about their new single.
Habits is an exceptional piece of forward thinking electronic music, blurring the genre lines between Dancehall, Jungle and Trap whilst fusing hypnotic vocals. Drawing on so many influences it’s difficult to pigeonhole the sound into a single classification, jam-packed with organic sounds and complexed rhythms generally developed by veteran producers.
Stay tuned for imminent updates as CRT CLSSX takes bass music to another level.
